I've been tagging along on class tours this week and today it was Jane Austen's turn. We have a class reading her complete works so it made perfect sense to try visit her home. Our tour actually worked backwards through her life today as we began in Winchester Cathedral with her tomb:
| Winchester Cathedral |
| Tomb of Jane Austen |
| 12th Century Wall Paintings in Chapel - Amazing! |
| The Crypt - it was flooded and one of my favorite sites in the Cathedral |
There are many more photos in the slideshow.
Our second stop was Chawton House in Chawton Village.
| Our group at Chawton House |
Jane's brother Edward was adopted by a wealthy family and became their heir inheriting Chawton House. He moved his mother and sisters to a cottage in the village.
| Jane Austen House Museum |
Some cottage huh?! It was our final stop and is now the Jane Austen House Museum.

Soooooo cool! So glad you're sharing these photos & experiences. Tilney's name came from Jane Austen's book Northanger Abbey ;)
