The sun has finally come out from behind the clouds (and there have been many over the last three weeks along with lots of rain) and we had a glorious day visiting the gardens of Stourhead.
Apparently a major scene from the 2005 film version of Pride and Prejudice was filmed at Stourhead. One of our students is obsessed! She enacted the entire scene (both parts) for us and anyone who was around and forced to watch. I laughed until I nearly cried!
We were to take a short detour up the hill to see a tower but our bus driver got BAD directions. He took us through a stone archway that we barely made it through within 5 minutes of our journey. And the lanes just got narrower from there. Eventually we met oncoming traffic! So we backed up - in the bus!!! And our driver had a brainstorming session in the road with the owner of the house and the driver of the oncoming car!! We got an escort all the way to the tower - we were several miles in the wrong direction!
Our day finished with a quick tour around Stonehenge!
