Wells Cathedral

Last weekend a small group from BSAO went overnight to the Southwest of England.  We left on Thursday afternoon and had dinner in the dining room at Wells Cathedral and then visited the Cathedral itself.  Wells is one of my absolute favorite cathedrals of any I have ever visited.  The exterior facade is elaborate and detailed but the interior is utterly different.  It is simple and elegant in its use of a single colored stone for all the building but completely unique in having scissor arches, one of my favorite features of the nave.  Unfortunately, they were rehearsing for a wedding and we were unable to walk around the East End or to go to the Chapter House (my other favorite aspect of this Cathedral).  Regardless of these disappointments, Wells is always worth the trip.
