Derbyshire, Part 4 - Bolsover Castle

Our fourth and final stop for our excursion to Derbyshire was another of Bess of Hardwick's homes, Bolsover Castle.  We picked up packed meals and had lunch on the lawns before exploring the property.  Kim, Robbie, Brendan and I sat down last and we were relegated to the Kiddie table to eat our cheese sandwiches with little juice boxes!

Bolsover was described in the mid-17th Century by Richard Andrews:

Hardwicke is rich,

Welbeck is fine,

Worsope is stately,

BOLS'ER DIVINE.

Much of Bolsover was destroyed in the Civil War and is in ruins

but the Little Castle remains
