Salisbury & Stonehenge

Today was the first day that I really was able to go with the group we have here at BSAO for a week on a program entitled, "A Tour Through British History." The week kicked off on Saturday night with a opening dinner and on Sunday they toured Oxford and had afternoon tea at The Randolph Hotel. Yesterday, Dr. John Goodall (who is fabulous) covered thousands of years of British architecture in a 2 hour lecture and then they went on a trip to visit God's House at Ewelme, a magnificent chantry chapel built by Alice de la Pol. Today I joined the fun and we all went to Salisbury Cathedral. First we stopped at Old Sarum where you can view the ruins of the castle and cathedral that were first built on the settlement.

We had a wonderful lunch at The Cloisters and then toured the Salisbury Cathedral. On our way back to Oxford we stopped at Stonehenge.

The day ended with a fantastic dinner at Brown's here in Oxford. The only disappointment is that the Eagle and Child apparently have stopped hosting quiz night!
