Nearly every temple we visited at Angkor Wat was graced with an image of a beautiful dancing girl, an Apsara. From Hindu mythology, the apsaras are the wives of the Ghandarvas or the court servants of the god Indra. It is the job of the Ghandarvas to make music for their wives to dance in the palace.

The Khmer people have translated these mythological beings into a true dance form which is considered the ballet of Cambodia. We attended a private dinner and performance in Siem Reap to see the Apsaras from the stones come to life.
