Bridal Shower for Heather Kelch
Last night Heather was "showered" with gifts and well wishes for her marriage to Ashley. It was a lovely shower at the home of Brenda Smith with many friends and family in attendance. It was a special occasion and I know speak for combined Kelch-Johnson families to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended either in person or in spirit. You are all appreciated and loved very much.
* A special thank you is owed to Brenda Smith for coordinating the event and opening her home to us and to all the hostesses who helped put together this beautiful event including Jetti Clabo, Jeanne Davis, Charity Frizzell, Debbie Gibbs, Margaret Goode, Kay Green, Misty Hedrick, Mary Joyce Hughes, Stefanie Johnson, Tammy Johnson, Serenity Kelly, Liz King, Barbara Lusk, Mary Lusk, Marty Mashburn, Claire Beth McCarter, Donna McCarter, Susan McCarter, Lisa McCoy, Judy Pat Overbay, Jane Rader, Brenda Smith, Summer Smith, Marie Temple, Novie Thomas, Rhonda Ward, Marcia Watson, and Amanda Williams.

Bridal Luncheon for Erin Hicks
Make New Friends but Keep the Old,
One is Silver and the Other Gold.
Always one of our favorite Girl Scout songs, the lines above hold true, and yesterday I celebrated with "old friends." (And so as not to upset anyone, I'll clarify: I refer to friends I have known for ages and not old in age!). Girl Scout Troop 11 of the Smoky Shadows Service Unit was small in size but not in laughs. We maintained that tradition with a shower for Erin Hicks with our "old" friends from Troop 11 and some new friends too!

Congratulations Erin! Best Wishes for a Bright and Happy Future!

A Vintage Afternoon Tea for Summer
On February 28th my cousin Summer is getting married. We are all very excited for her and Brad and in celebration we threw a shower for her yesterday! The shower theme was a vintage styled, formal afternoon tea (although we were missing the clotted cream - I did find a site online that sold it in the US but I was a little hesitant. The truth is, there were only a few there that even knew what clotted cream is so it wasn't really missed!). Some of my other cousins (Charity, Serenity, Lisa, Rhonda, Amanda, Megan, & Bethany) helped as hostesses and I thought it turned out really well. All the linens were from the 1930s, 40s and 50s and we encouraged everyone to wear hats!
UPDATE: The February 28th Smith/ Daniels Wedding has been cancelled. While Summer and Brad care for one another, they have determined that marriage is not in God's plan for thier lives. Please continue to pray for both of them as they face this difficult decision.
