Back in Oxford

It's always great to be back in Oxford!  It's like coming home in many ways! This year I didn't come straight to Oxford but spent a couple of nights in London with BSAO Staff.  We started out great - immediately upon arrival went to the pub to watch the USA play Germany in the World Cup.  Friday we spent the day at the Tate Modern to see this exhibit:

It was unlike any Matisse exhibit I have seen previously and really explained this artwork from Matisse's later years in life - a great way to spend the morning.  Then the entire afternoon we spent at the Camden Market.  I had never been so it was fun just wandering around the neighborhood.

Each year the BSAO team usually starts off the summer with a nice walk down the Thames to a pub dinner just outside Oxford.  Since we were in London this year, we did it a bit differently - a boat ride down the Thames to Greenwich with a great riverside dinner at the pub/ restaurant.

It was a busy weekend quickly setting up the office and preparing for the students but all have arrived (we have a smaller group this summer - only 54) and we have gotten off to a good start.  Tomorrow we even take our first excursion!
