A Top 5 List

Writing about a visit to Wells inspired me to actually think about my top 5 churches I have ever visited. There are Cathedrals that inspire from the sheer size or ornate details - it is about the engineering or the vast amount of decoration that has been done.  Others inspire because they are simply a work of art - it is about creating a magnificent sculpture.  Still other Cathedrals inspire because they call a visitor to worship - this is supposed to be the purpose of each of these but not all have that sense.

To make my top 5 list, a church/ cathedral/ chapel must be both beautiful in my mind and also invoke a spiritual connection, one that truly reflects this is a house of God.
