What an amazing day on the Nantahala River with Amanda McCarter Williams! The weather was PERFECT! It was 80 degrees outside and about 50 degrees in the water with the sun shining and the river high. We had a blast and are planning an August trip down the Ocoee for a bigger rush.
The other members of our boat were great - we had so much fun with Sydney and Becky and our guides Stuart and Connor. We named ourselves the bully boat. As lead boat, we had to check on all the others around us and there were a few who shouldn't have been going down the river on their own (unguided). More on that when I get the disposable camera developed!
The pictures we have are from the last rapid taken by NOC. Here's how they describe it:
Nantahala Falls: Class IIINantahala Falls is the longest, swiftest and most fun rapid on the Nantahala River. There are a number of ways to run this rapid, some are a bit more thrilling than others. The approach features wavetrains that snake down the middle of the river as it narrows into a swift chanel. You'll just nip the edge of a hydraulics at the top of Nantahala Falls, then paddle over a swiftly moving slide to the bottom, finishing with a big splash.
We definitely got wet! And had lots of fun doing it! Please notice that in none of the pictures are any of us girls actually paddling but Connor (in the back) is paddling in every shot.
